Stallion Sperm Viability, as Measured by the Nucleocounter SP-100, Is Affected by Extender and Enhanced by Single Layer Centrifugation
Mean values for total motility (%) and progressive motility (%) for one stallion (Stallion I) . Note: SLC: Single Layer Centrifugation; I: INRA96; K: Kenney’s extender. Significant differences and trends towards significance between 0 hour and 24 hours within each treatment group are shown on the figure. Other significant differences were found as follows: for progressive motility between uncentrifuged and SLC at 24 hours , between uncentrifuged and SLC at 24 hours , and between SLC and SLC at 0 hour ; for total motility, between uncentrifuged and K SLC at 24 hours , and between uncentrifuged and SLC at 24 hours . There were no differences between ejaculates except for total motility, uncentrifuged, versus at 0 hour.
