Ascorbate Attenuates Oxidative Stress and Increased Blood Pressure Induced by 2-(4-Hydroxyphenyl) Amino-1,4-naphthoquinone in Rats

Hypotensive and bradycardic effects of ascorbate on normotensive rats chronically treated with Q7. The results show that oral administration of 500 mg/kg ascorbate (Asc) for 20 days decreased the systolic blood pressure (SBP) (a) and heart rate (HR) (b) in Q7-treated rats (10 mg/kg Q7). Values are mean ± standard error of the mean of 5 experiments in mmHg or BPM. Statistically significant differences: versus control; ; ; and versus Q7.
