Chronological lifespan determination. WT and flX1Δ strains were cultured in SM liquid medium at 30°C. Dilutions from each culture containing about 200 cells (as calculated from by taking into account that one is equivalent to 3 × 107 cell/mL) were harvested after 24, 96, and 168 h and plated onto SM solid medium and grown at 30°C for two-three days.
