Smart Antennas and Intelligent Sensors Based Systems: Enabling Technologies and Applications 2022

Description

The growing communication and computing capabilities in devices widens the connected world and improves human comfort. The evolution of intelligent sensor networks and smart antennas has led to the development of smart devices and systems for real-time monitoring of various environments.

The demand for smart antennas and intelligent sensors significantly increases when dealing with multi-user communication systems that need to be adaptive, especially in an unknown adverse environment. The smart antennas-based arrays are capable of steering the main beam in any desired direction while placing nulls in the unwanted directions. Intelligent sensor networks integration with smart antennas will provide algorithms and interesting applications to collect various data from the environment to make intelligent decisions.

The aim of this Special Issue is to solicit original research articles, highlighting an inclusive vision on the current research area of intelligent sensors and smart antenna-based systems for enabling various applications and technologies. Review articles discussing the current state of the art, are also welcome.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Analysis and design of smart antennas for wireless communication
  • Smart antennas-based adaptive beamforming and direction of arrival estimation
  • Adaptive null steering using smart antennas
  • Detection and correction of faulty antennas in smart arrays
  • Multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems for mobile communication
  • Practical applications of cognitive radio and intelligent heterogeneous sensor networks
  • Smart antenna approaches in underwater sensors
  • Smart wearable antennas and intelligent sensors
  • Intelligent sensors for smart homes and smart cities
  • Radio Frequency Identification RFID-based object localization and tracking
  • Smart antennas and sensors for active and passive targets localizations
