Intelligent User Interface for Interactive Multimedia: Emerging Techniques and Services
Description
Issues in regard to Intelligent User Interface become an emerging field of study due to the rapid development of hardware devices (such as multi-dimensional sensors, infrared device, motion detector, etc.). To extract contexts and semantic description from human natural behavior, the technologies of human behaviour recognition have been researched across various areas such as image processing, pattern recognition, computer vision, augmented reality and machine learning. Studies in this realm are highly envisioned to allow fresh natural operation interface for interactive multimedia applications with Natural User eXperience (NUX). A wide spectrum of areas, e.g., computer-human interaction (CHI), human-machine interaction (HMI), brain-computer interaction (BCI) and human-robot interaction (HRI). To prompt approaches towards automatic, natural, accurate, and real-time interactions, advanced algorithms are expected and challenging issues in the coming centuries.
This special issue intends to tackle such deluge issues in the realm of intelligent user interface that prompt the development of highly-interactive multimedia services. High quality and state-of-the-art issues and results are welcome. Original research articles and reviews are welcome in all aspects including theoretical studies, practical applications, new techniques and experimental prototypes. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Intelligent/ubiquitous techniques and services
- Multimedia storage/retrieval/transmission/analysis towards intelligent user interface
- Adaptive hypermedia systems
- Pattern/signal recognition and user modeling
- Segmentation, classification, and analysis of user experiences
