The region of interest (ROI) used for calculating the hard tissue and oro-hypopharyngeal region volumes. The ROI of the hard tissue and oro-hypopharyngeal region were set by manually tracing all the axial cross-sectional images of the oro-hypopharyngeal region. To set the ROI, a danger space was used in the area of the cervical vertebrae to maintain bone morphology continuity. All the hard tissue and oro-hypopharyngeal region ROIs in the oro-hypopharyngeal region assessed using multislice computed tomography data at baseline and data with the mandibular advancement appliance (MAA) were superimposed.
