Honokiol Ameliorates Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Type 1 Diabetic Rats by Reducing Oxidative Stress and Apoptosis through Activating the SIRT1-Nrf2 Signaling Pathway

Figure 5

HKL treatment increased cell viability, raised intracellular SIRT1 expression and activity, and enhanced Nrf2 nuclear accumulation in HG-treated H9c2 cells after SIR injury. (a) HKL treatment (1 μM, 2 μM, and 5 μM) had no significant effect on the cell viability of control H9c2 cells. (b) HKL treatment (1 μM, 2 μM, and 5 μM) had no significant effect on the cell viability of HG-treated H9c2 cells. (c) Representative blots. (d) HKL treatment dose dependently increased the cell viability against SIR injury in HG-treated H9c2 cells. (e) SIRT1 expression. (f) Relative SIRT1 activity. (g) Nrf2 nuclear translocation. Data are presented as the mean ± SEM ( in each group). versus the HG group, versus the HG + SIR group.
