Neurological Disorders Related Neuronal Network Impairment: Function and Mechanism

Description

Structural and functional neuronal networks provide the physiological basis for information processing and mental representations. Complex neurological disorders are characterized by structural and functional abnormalities in multiple brain areas involving several distinct brain systems. Recent advances in biology and medicine point to altered brain connectivity as a key feature of their pathophysiology. Knowledge and understanding of these deficits of neuronal networks have led to the development of animal models, successful therapies, and novel tools to characterize these clinical conditions and provide better care for patients.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that provide novel insights into dysfunctional brain architecture in neurological disorders. We are particularly interested in articles that explore aspects of synaptic plasticity, brain network functions, and activities in humans and also in animal models of neurological diseases. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Abnormal synaptic plasticity in neurological diseases
  • Abnormal oscillations in neurological diseases
  • Neuronal circuit basis of neurological diseases
  • Role of inflammation in neurological and psychiatric diseases

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/np/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/np/nrn/ according to the following timetable:
