Image target detection has important applications in area monitoring, passive navigation, and aircraft guidance. Image target detection is a key and challenging problem in the field of computer vision and image processing. Image target detection has always been a research hotspot in this field and has been of high concern by scholars in the field. In recent years, thanks to the wide applications of artificial intelligence technology such as deep learning in image processing and computer vision, the research of image target detection technology has made great progress.

However, most of the existing studies detect the target in the simplified scene with many assumptions. Due to the lack of appropriate knowledge representation and reasoning methods, it greatly limits the problem scale and scene complexity. For image target detection in complex scenes, there are still many problems that need to be studied and solved.

In order to better promote the development of intelligent target detection technology and application in complex scene images, this Special Issue aims to gather the latest research of scholars from various countries in related fields. In order to promote academic exchanges and technological innovation, researchers and enterprise colleagues in relevant fields such as artificial intelligence, computer vision, and image processing are encouraged to contribute.
