Inflammatory and Immune-Mediated Cutaneous Diseases
Description
The skin is considered to be a complex and immunologically privileged organ. The complex structure of the skin immune system causes various diseases to follow a clinical pattern depending on the immune and local inflammatory response. Autoimmune, infectious, and inflammatory diseases with clinical patterns depending on the interaction between damaging agent and host response pattern are included within this group.
In recent years, increasing attention has been given to the role of other immune cells as adjuvants of this immune-inflammatory response, as well as the role of new cytokine profiles and immune cells in the development of skin diseases. Within this context, the increasing knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology has contributed to a better understanding of the pathogenesis and clinical outcome as well as the specific therapeutic response.
The goal of this special issue is to publish new information on the frontier of knowledge of inflammatory and immune-mediated skin diseases addressing their pathogenic, clinical, immunologic, immunogenetic, molecular, and protein aspects in order to promote a better understanding of the evolution of such diseases.
The issue will have dermatology professionals and immunologists and focus on infectious diseases, internal medicine, molecular biology, and others, thus increasing the reach of publications and the impact on the area of expertise.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Cellular and humoral immunology
- Imunogenetics
- Pathogenesis and clinical evolution
- Imunopathology
- Genomics and proteomics
- In situ immune response
- Immunomodulators and therapeutics
- Inflammatory disease and cancer
