Control and Resolution Mechanisms of the Inflammatory Response 2016
Description
The inflammatory response is a fundamental physiologic process to protect cells from infection and other noxious stimuli. Inflammation is terminated by endogenous anti-inflammatory and proresolving mediators to restore homeostasis; however, failing in the control and resolution of inflammation may lead to chronic inflammation which is characteristic in many chronic-degenerative diseases, that is, cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases, with devastating consequences for human health. Development of tools and strategies to control the chronic inflammatory response needs to be based on a profound knowledge of its subjacent cellular and molecular mechanisms. Having this in mind, we cordially invite authors to submit original and review articles that contribute to understanding of the natural and exogenously induced process that controls and resolves inflammation and helps to establish new routes between the complex inflammatory reactions and the strategies to regulate them.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Signalling pathways that contribute to the control or resolution of inflammation (i.e., TLR, TGF-β, etc.)
- Resolvins as drug candidates for inflammatory diseases
- Control or resolution of chronic inflammation in obesity and metabolic syndrome
- Contribution of proresolving mediators in the prevention of chronic degenerative diseases (i.e., cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases)
- Nervous system role in the control or resolution of inflammation (i.e., inflammatory reflex)
- Control or resolution mechanisms induced by natural or synthetic compounds
- Control or resolution mechanisms induced by immune cells
