Bilateral ovariectomy was performed 5 weeks before the end of the experiment. Diabetes was induced 3 days after the ovariectomy by a single administration of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg i.p.). Results are presented as (). Two-way ANOVA followed by Fisher’s LSD test was used for evaluation of the significance of the results. , —significantly different from the NOVX control rats; XX, XXX—significantly different from the OVX control rats; Tt.Ar: transverse cross-section area of the whole diaphysis; Ct.Ar: transverse cross-section area of the cortical bone; Ma.Ar: transverse cross-section area of the marrow cavity; Ma.Ar/Tt.Ar: transverse cross-section area of the marrow cavity/diaphysis ratio. |
