SHBG inhibits inflammatory cytokine levels in 3T3-L1 cells cocultured with peritoneal macrophages. Differentiated 3T3-L1 cells and peritoneal macrophages from C57BL/6 were cocultured using a transwell system overnight, in culture media with or without SHBG protein. Thereafter, we added 100 pg/ml LPS to the culture media and cells were collected 12 hrs later. mRNA levels of inflammatory cytokines in each cell were measured by RT-PCR.
