Cataract Surgery Challenges Including Pediatric Cataract Surgery

This issue is now closed for submissions.

Description

Small- and micro-incision cataract surgery and intraocular lens design have enormously improved safety and outcome of cataract surgery during the last decade. Nevertheless, cataract surgeons are still facing challenges particularly in pediatric cataract surgery and cataract removal after trauma and injuries of the globe.

In these patients, visual recovery is often limited and resurgery is more frequently necessary due to intra- and postoperative complications. Consequently, this special issue concentrates on the challenging cases of anterior segment eye surgery. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Pediatric cataract surgery
  • Primary IOL implantation
  • Management of posttraumatic lens dislocation
  • Cataract surgery of patients with Marfan's syndrome
  • Complicated cataract surgery
  • Management of intraoperative lens dislocation
  • Combined surgical procedures
  • Innovative use of capsular tension segments/rings
  • Long-term outcome results
