Body Composition: Assessment, Regulation, and Emerging Techniques
Description
Body composition assessment is now routinely carried out in basic science laboratories and clinical settings. The modern era of human body composition research involves new methodology development, compartment modeling, and its translation to understanding growth, aging, disease processes, and athletic performance. Whether it is the study of childhood or adult obesity, weight gain or loss, or metabolic function or disease, understanding which components of body composition contribute to clinical relevancy or performance is paramount.
We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that develop and validate emergent body composition methods and research that explores the relationship between body composition structure and function in health, performance, and various disease states. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- New and emergent techniques for body composition assessment with clinically relevant endpoints
- Application of body composition to investigate clinical and performance-related questions
- Novel concepts integrating body composition mathematical models with human body weight regulation equations
- Review of advances in body composition research, with particular emphasis on application to clinical research and specific target populations (e.g., athletes, children, elderly, obesity, and disease states)
- Development of body composition growth charts from early life throughout adolescence
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jobes/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
