Concentration-dependent effect of α-PrP on the emission spectra of YOYO intercalated in gcDNA, mDNA, and atDNA. Traces (1), (2), and (3) in each figures ((a), (b), and (c)) represent the dye fluorescence intercalated in these DNAs, respectively, in 20 mM Hepes buffer, pH 7.4 containing 100 mM NaCl. Traces (2) and (3) are the dye fluorescence spectra after the addition of 0.6 and 1.2 μM α-PrP, respectively. DNA and dye concentrations in the experiments were 400 nM phosphate and 8 nM dye. Excitation 485 nm. Temperature 20°C.
