Innate-Adaptive Immune Crosstalk 2016

Description

Innate and adaptive immune responses constitute vertebrate immunological defense system. Recent research has clearly showcased that both these responses are interdependent and interactions between these two immune compartments play pivotal role in various physiological and immunopathological conditions. For example, interactions between dendritic cells and NK cells or T cells and NK cells have been shown to play important role in various bacterial and viral infections. Recently, the importance of T and NK cells in immune response against cancer has been demonstrated. Based on these studies it becomes imperative to study both of these immune compartments as one functional unit. Further, a detailed understanding of the interaction between innate and adaptive immunity can lead to new approaches to improve immunotherapy in various diseases.

We invite investigators to submit original research and review articles on innate-adaptive immune crosstalk.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Importance of innate-adaptive immune crosstalk in cancer bacterial and viral infections
  • Interaction between T cell and NK cell in antitumor immunity, bacterial, and viral infections
  • Interaction between dendritic cells and NK cells in the control of adaptive immunity to cancer, bacterial, and viral infections
  • Molecular mechanisms of innate-adaptive immune crosstalk in physiological and pathological states
  • Interaction of innate and adaptive immunity in the maintenance of immune homeostasis and tolerance
  • Therapeutic interventions to enhance innate-adaptive immune crosstalk
