Biomechanics in Musculoskeletal Health

Description

Musculoskeletal problem, such as traumatic injury, osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis, is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide and is therefore a crucial branch of public health. Biomechanics has been proven to play a critical role in musculoskeletal pathology, treatment, and rehabilitation. Biomechanical factors could influence cell’s metabolic activity, bone remodeling, and sequelae development. Advance in biomechanical theory, methodology, and technique could also promote the improvement on the design of protective, surgical, and rehabilitation equipment. Advance in computational technique even promoted the development of computational biomechanics.

The main focus of this special issue is on innovative theory and application of biomechanics to understand musculoskeletal pathology and to improve the techniques for the treatment and rehabilitation. This special issue will serve as an international platform for biomechanical researchers, rehabilitation therapists, protector designers, and orthopedic surgeons.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Modeling of musculoskeletal system injury
  • Design and analysis of protective equipment
  • Biomechanics in orthopedic surgery
  • Biomechanics in rehabilitation
  • Cell biomechanics and mechanobiology
  • Mechanism and protection of sports injury
