Eco-Innovation in Environmental Management and Sustainability
Description
Ecological innovation (eco-innovation) has been increasingly important in the last two decades and has become an effective mechanism to help enterprises reduce negative environmental impacts and achieve sustainable development. Eco-innovation focuses on processes, organizational concepts, and the innovation of products, aiming to improve environmental performance such as reduction of pollution and renewable energy on carbon neutrality.
Although eco-innovation has drawn much attention and has significantly improved, few articles on technological evolution involve eco-innovation. Achieving sustainable development requires three types of innovation: technological, social, and institutional. The first two types are widely ignored in innovation economics, and the third one has not been properly elaborated. Eco-innovation could lead to sustainable development, which is one of the most fiercely debated topics in recent years. Yet the research framework for this is neither systematic nor comprehensive. Comprehensive and integrated models can provide a guide for research and practice of sustainable development management. Because only limited research exists on sustainable development from societal, cultural, environmental, and ecological perspectives, this Special Issue proposes a complete conceptual model of eco-innovation and aims to encourage further empirical research on the subject. Whether environmental management can be applied to energy and water sources and the degree to which sustainability revenue can be generated are taken into consideration.
The Special Issue focuses on the challenges and problems of eco-innovation and sustainable development. The aims are to share and discuss the recent advances and future trends in applications of new methods and technologies in the global environment. Furthermore, the Special Issue should bring academic researchers and industry developers together to submit original research and review articles on effective applications in eco-innovation.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Eco-innovation
