Thalidomide Embryopathy: An Enigmatic Challenge

Structures of thalidomide and its structural analogs. Thalidomide (a) is enantiomeric and can exist in two chiral states (asterisk denotes chiral centre). CPS49 (b) is a structural analog based on the antiangiogenic breakdown product of the thalidomide molecule and is fluorinated to enhance bioactivity and stability [1, 29, 54]. Lenalidomide (c) and pomalidomide (d) are based on the thalidomide structure and used to treat multiple myeloma.
