Environmental Friendly Polymer Materials for Sustainable Development
Description
The environmental friendly polymers contain the polymers or their composites which are either biodegradable or biobased (from renewable resources). Their carbon-neutral lifecycle may reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and the dependence on petroleum-based materials, and then reduce the human footprint on the environment. Due to the concerns with the current increasing environmental issues and depletion of petroleum oil, it is definitely necessary for both academic and industry to attach the great importance to the development of the environmental friendly polymers materials or “green materials.” In fact, the significant achievements in this field have been obtained by chemists, physicists, and engineers who recognized the importance of developing environmentally responsible materials.
The environmental friendly materials involve the fields of green chemistry, biodegradable, and bio-based materials at the structural, chemical, and physical level, as well as the utilization of principles to reduce or eliminate hazardous substances in the design, manufacture, and application of chemical products. We are greatly interested in topics about the biodegradable polymers, biobased polymers, green chemistry for polymer science, natural resources polymer composites, environmental friendly engineering process, etc. We highly invite investigators from both academic and industry to contribute their original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing effort to give us a green environment. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Recent development in biodegradable polymers, biobased polymers, green chemistry, and engineering in polymer science
- Synthesis and development of biobased and biodegradable polymers or polymer nanocomposites
- Environmentally benign methods for polymers synthesis
- Natural renewable resources polymer composites for functional or biodegradable materials
- Application of environmentally friendly materials
- Investigation on physical-mechanical properties of environmentally friendly materials
- Environmentally benign processing and manufacturing of polymers
- New renewable resources for polymer science
- Experimental and theoretical investigation on the structure, physical-mechanical properties, and application of natural biopolymers
- Preparation and characterization of novel biopolymers
