Natural Polymer: Oriental Lacquer

Description

The aim and scope of the special issue are to provide a forum for the publication of original research and review articles on all subjects relevant to lacquer science. The special issue includes up-to-date information on lacquer substances based on lacquer sap and lacquerware sciences such as analysis and synthesis of lacquer derivatives, protection and restoration of ancient lacquerwares, application of lacquer, and lacquer technology. This special issue covers all branches and aspects concerning synthesis of lacquer, nanolacquer, hybrid lacquer, and modified lacquer, which are prepared and examined with chemical and physical characterization methods, to meet the application of the product in lacquer-craft and lacquer industry. The special issue also concentrates on catalytic characteristics of lacquer laccase and biological activity of lacquer polysaccharide. Furthermore, lacquer ink, electromagnetic wave shielding material, and metal rust preventive coating material also are included.

We cordially invite investigators of academia, industry, and research organizations to submit their original research articles on lacquer science, highlighting the possible technological applications of the ancient material in traditional process and modern industry.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Synthesis of lacquer derivatives
  • Modification of lacquer
  • Physical and chemical properties of lacquer sap and film
  • Analysis of lacquer structure
  • Lacquer-craft techniques
  • Functional applications of lacquer
  • Ancient lacquerwares
