Heterojunction Photocatalytic Materials

Description

Environmental pollution and fossil energy shortage are two of the biggest challenges facing the world. Semiconductor-based photocatalysis is one of the most promising technologies to achieve efficient pollution remediation and clean hydrogen energy supplies; however, the success of this technology is restricted because of the high recombination rate of photo-induced charges and low utilization rate of sunlight.

Therefore, it is important to exploit new types of photocatalysts with strong photoresponses in wide wavelength ranges and with highly efficient charge separation. It is well known that a heterojunction structure formed between two semiconductors could significantly improve the photocatalytic performance, through enhancing separation of photo-induced charge carriers and suppressing recombination of electron-hole pairs.

This Special Issue focuses on the synthesis and application of heterojunction photocatalysts. We call for any original research and review articles with a focus on heterojunction photocatalytic materials.
