(2)ContemplationBeginning to acknowledge that they have a problem, and thinking seriously about solving it; intention to change within 6 months.
(3)PreparationMaking plans about how they will change their behaviour within the next month.
(4)Action/MaintenanceMaking overt changes in their behaviour and surroundings in the last 6 months and/or maintaining behaviour change, often with relapses; can last from 6 months to about 5 years.
