Fat efflux from hepatic cells is impaired by ethanol treatment. WIF-B cell cultures were “loaded” with fat for 48 hours, washed, and then reintroduced into fresh media. Oil Red O staining was measured before and after a 24-hour “washout” period. Data are expressed as fat content pre- and post-washout as intensities of Oil Red O for quantification.
