Seismic Imaging
Description
As organized and intelligible displays of data, seismic images constitute invaluable tools for gaining and conveying information on structural and material properties of the Earth. With the help of processing, seismic data are transformed into interpretable sections or volumes, tailored to a multitude of purposes, for example, location, delineation, and characterization of hydrocarbon reservoirs, detection of potential leakage faults in CO2 sequestration and nuclear waste sites, and so forth. Impressive advances in seismic acquisition, as well as in computer power and information technologies, provide access to comprehensive high quality data that still awaits adequate handling and interpretation in many cases.
We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that contribute to a better understanding of seismic imaging, especially in the framework of its new possibilities. We are interested in articles that explore basic and/or applied aspects of seismic data that are relevant to meet today's challenges in subsurface imaging. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Velocity analysis and velocity model building
- Seismic tomography
- Time and depth migration
- Time-to-depth conversion
- True amplitudes
- Detection and processing of diffractions
- New or nonconventional seismic processing
- Interferometry
- Compressive sensing
- Vertical, lateral, and super resolutions
- High performance computing in seismic processing
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijgp/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
