The immediate loading of dental implants has helped accelerate protocols for implant therapy. There are several advantages to this approach. The number of appointments is reduced, normal function is resumed rapidly, and discomfort decreases. In addition, the need for an interim removable partial denture is often eliminated, reducing adjustment time and enhancing patient’s satisfaction. While the dental literature appears to show support for these procedures in the mandible, the maxillary arch presents additional challenges. The dental community would benefit, therefore, from a deeper understanding of several factors related to this topic. We invite authors to submit original research articles, review articles, and clinical studies that explore all aspects of immediate loading of maxillary implants. We are particularly interested in research that can further the scientific understanding to support the immediate loading of maxillary implants in the posterior maxilla. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Effect of implant system on maxillary immediately loaded implants
• Reliability of immediate loading in partially edentulous maxillary posterior sites
• Relationship between number of implants and long-term success (implant and/or prosthesis survival)
• Bone density (Hounsfield unit) from CBCT as a predictive tool for the success of maxillary immediate loading
• Relationship between insertion torque and survival of immediately loaded implants
• Effect of maxillary immediate loading on bone levels
• Effect of maxillary immediate loading on gingival esthetics
• Effect of maxillary immediate loading on implant and prosthesis survival
• Effect of maxillary immediate protocols on patient’s satisfaction
• Correlations between age, primary stability, failure, and so forth
• Influence of restorative materials on the repair and/or survival of maxillary immediately loaded prosthesis
• Influence of maxillary immediate versus conventional approach on speech adaptation with definitive prosthesis
