Phenolic
Ferric chloride test: a few drops (3–4 drops) of ferric chloride solution were added to 1 ml of the plant extract. The formation of bluish black confirms the presence of phenols.
Lead acetate test: a few drops of 10% dilute lead acetate solution were added to the plant extract. The formation of the yellow precipitate confirms the presence of flavonoids.
Liebermann–Burchard test: a few drops of sulphuric acid were added to 1 ml of the plant extract, and the formation of a brown ring at the junction and red colour in the upper layer confirms the presence of terpenoids.
Frothing test: plant extract was treated with distilled water in a tube and shaken well. The formation of stable froth confirms the presence of saponins.
