Diagnosis and Management of Gastrointestinal Foreign Bodies

Description

The gastrointestinal foreign bodies are common conditions in all generations. While children show ingestion of coins, toys, batteries, and magnets, adult shows ingestion of meat mass, bones, and so forth while eating. With the increase of elder generation, the partial denture also becomes a common object of the ingestion. With the development of endoscopic technology and devices, the therapeutic method of these materials for the removal becomes less invasive and successful removal rate becomes higher. Therefore, the knowledge and understanding of these foreign bodies and therapeutic methods will lead physicians to make correct decision for the treatment and then contribute to rescuing patients in the emergency department. In addition, the information will contribute to raising ideas to improve the methods and devices for future clinical applications of new therapeutic methods.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles, systematic review articles, methods-based articles, update information of devices, and so forth that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the gastrointestinal foreign bodies and share the knowledge of therapeutic methods.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnosis
  • Therapeutic methods
  • Endoscopic devices
  • Surgical therapeutic methods
  • Development of novel methods and devices for the treatment
