Representative photomicrographs of the pancreas after complete ligation of the main pancreatic duct. Common bile duct was ligated proximal to the pancreas near the liver, and a cannula was inserted above the ligature, and the bile was introduced into the duodenum via cannula so as to prevent obstructive jaundice. The biliopancreatic duct was completely ligated at its entrance into the duodenum. (a) On day 7 after the ligation, pancreatic fibrosis was observed only around the slightly dilated duct.
