Medicinal Mushrooms

Description

Mushrooms are, similar to plants, important producers of bioactive compounds. Their medicinal use has long traditions mainly in the East Asian countries. It is strongly increasing since the last decades also in the Western hemisphere. The key to a justified and useful application of medicinal mushrooms and mushroom products is an improved understanding of chemistry, biology, and pharmacology of mushrooms and mushroom components. We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that explore different aspects of established or potentially new medicinal mushrooms. Mushroom extracts as well as isolated mushroom compounds can be covered. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • In vitro investigations for biological activities
  • Preclinical investigations
  • Clinical investigations and observations
  • Investigations for mode of action and bioavailability
  • Identification and structure elucidation of bioactive components
  • Traditional experiences
  • Product development
  • Quality aspects
  • Legislation and regulation

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ecam/mush/ according to the following timetable:
