Complementary and Alternative Medicine for the Treatment of Fibromyalgia

Description

Fibromyalgia is a disorder that is characterized by chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain, physical fatigue, sleep disorders, cognitive disturbances, and high level of somatic and psychological distress. Patients with fibromyalgia use various pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapies including complementary and alternative therapies. However, the evidence regarding CAM treatments is lacking.

We invite investigators to contribute original research and review articles of CAM or integrative therapies for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Besides clinical trials and review articles, we are also seeking papers concerning methodological aspects for improving the quality of clinical trials in the field of complementary and alternative therapies. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • The use of complementary and alternative treatments in fibromyalgia
  • Complementary and alternative medicine and integrative treatment approaches for fibromyalgia
  • Complementary and alternative medicine in the prevention of recurrence of symptoms in fibromyalgia
  • Efficacy and effectiveness of complementary and alternative treatments in fibromyalgia
  • Clinical application of complementary and alternative medicine in the treatment of fibromyalgia
  • Assessment of methodological issues in reviews of complementary and alternative medicine
  • Hypotheses and models regarding the mode of action (amenable to empirical testing)

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ecam/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ecam/fibro/ according to the following timetable:
