The JADAD scoring system was used for the assessment of randomized controlled trials with the following 5 items: Was the study described as randomized? (Yes = 1 point, No = 0 points); Was the randomization scheme described and appropriate? (Yes = 1 point, No = -1 point); Was the study described as double-blind? (Yes = 1 point, No = 0 points); Was the method of double blinding appropriate? (Yes = 1 point, No = -1 point. If the answer of Item 3 was No, Item 4 is not calculable); Was there a description of dropouts and withdrawals? (Yes = 1 point, No = 0 points). |
