Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Triterpenes Isolated from Protium paniculatum Oil-Resins

Effect of the isolated triterpenes on NO production in LPS-stimulated J774 cells. (a) α,β-amyrin (b) acetylated α,β-amyrin (c) α,β-amyrone (d) brein/maniladiol, and (e) indomethacin. Production of NO was assayed in culture supernatants of macrophages stimulated with LPS (1 μg/mL) for 24 h in the presence of the four compounds (1.25–10 μg/mL). The nitrite values are the mean ± SD from three independent experiments. Significance was determined using Student’s--test (; compared to LPS).
