Effects of 6-Hydroxyflavone on Osteoblast Differentiation in MC3T3-E1 Cells

Figure 2

Effects of flavones on MC3T3 cell viability. Effects of the selected hydroxyflavones (flavone, 6-hydroxyflavone (6-OH-F), 7-hydroxyflavone (7-OH-F), baicalein, and luteolin) at various concentrations on MC3T3 cells were examined using an MTT assay. After 24 h of treatment, flavone, 6-OH-F, and 7-OH-F had no obvious effect on the MC3T3 cells. However, 50 μM of baicalein as well as 25 μM and 50 μM of luteolin significantly reduced the number of viable MC3T3-E1 cells compared with untreated cells, indicating cytotoxic effects of these two compounds under the present experimental condition. Data are expressed as mean ± SD ( ). The statistical significance of each group was analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Duncan’s multiple-range test (* , with difference between the current group and untreated group).
