Theories, Methods, and Applications for Performance Assessment in Complex Systems
Description
Performance assessment is one of the most vital issues for almost all organizations, as it provides important performance information for various production activities. Since many organizations in modern society have complex network production structures, it is vital to further develop approaches and analytical tools for organizational performance assessment in complex systems.
During the past few years, performance assessment has emerged as a hot topic in organization management. At the same time, performance assessment in complex systems has attracted substantial attention due to the fact that it can provide more meaningful information on performance indicators and benchmarks compared to those in simple black-box systems. Several papers have been published in recent years that clearly demonstrate the great potential of performance assessment in complex systems for broad managerial applications. Studies in performance assessment methods and applications are promising and should be further studied to develop new theories and techniques in complex systems, especially for new application areas in modern society.
The aim of this Special Issue is to serve as a forum to bring together active researchers all over the world to share their recent advances in different aspects of how we solve technical problems of organizational performance assessment in complex systems. We welcome studies about modeling and applications relevant to complex network production systems and practical managerial cases, present state-of-the-art approaches and novel applications in different complex systems, and survey the recent progress in evaluating complex systems. We also hope to attract research with examples in different areas that gives individuals the chance to evaluate and improve performance based on big data in complex systems, and that give new methods for uncertain performance assessment based on complex systems. We welcome both original research and review articles.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Big data analytics in complex systems
- Resource allocation in complex systems
- Performance indicators in complex systems
- Network data envelopment analysis approaches
- Performance improvement in complex ecosystems
- New theories for simulation tools in complex systems
- Performance assessment in complex engineering projects
- Complexity management and supply chain performance assessment
- Uncertain data envelopment analysis approaches in complex systems
- Applications in complex energy, engineering, and risk management systems
