Mechanisms and Implications of Age-Related Changes in the Liver

Description

Despite the fact that aging is the major independent risk factor for most diseases, there is almost no understanding of how old age predisposes to disease. The age-related decrease in liver function is substantial and very relevant for systemic exposure to substrates implicated in disease pathogenesis and aging.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the underlying mechanisms and implications of age-related changes in the liver, the development of strategies to attenuate and overcome these conditions, and the evaluation of outcomes. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Changes to the hepatic sinusoid in aging
  • Aging, cancer, and the liver
  • Changes in drug toxicity in aging
  • Complexity of hepatic drug metabolism in old age
  • The liver and aging: implications for immune diseases
  • Caloric restriction and the aging liver

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/cggr/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
