Ultrasound Applications in Critical Care Medicine

Description

Ultrasonography has become an indispensable tool that supplements the physical examination and bedside evaluation in recent years. This is of particular clinical importance in critical care medicine as the management of patients requires safe and rapid diagnostic techniques as well as expeditious decision making. Cardiovascular ultrasound, lung echography, abdominal ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided procedures have been increasingly used by intensivists and emergency medicine physicians to facilitate the diagnosis, therapeutic interventions, and monitoring of the critically ill patients. We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that focus upon any ultrasound applications used in the critical care setting. We are interested in manuscripts that outline the usage of focused ultrasound techniques which could be applied in the diagnosis and/or in the management of critical care patients. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Ultrasound technologies
  • Echocardiography and cardiovascular disease
  • Lung echography and general chest ultrasound
  • Vascular ultrasound and transcranial Doppler sonography
  • Abdominal ultrasound FAST and Trauma
  • Ultrasound-guided procedures
  • Non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring
  • Ultrasound-guided patient resuscitation

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ccrp/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
