Biologic Activity and Biotechnological Development of Natural Products

Description

Periodicals publishing researches involving natural products have been growing year after year. Nowadays, it is possible to find several journals within this field. The importance of this area in the late history in medicines derived from medicinal plants has led to the discovery and development of drugs for several pathologies. Therefore, the use of natural products as source of new chemical compounds with high biological activity has taken a high number of researchers to dedicate efforts to the discoveries of new biological activities, pharmacological mechanisms, toxicological approaches, and pharmaceutical technology applied to natural products have become an outstanding field of research worldwide.

However, it is necessary that more effective way in these studies reach a greater number of people within this magnificent area. In this way, we would like to invite researchers all over the world to contribute with original articles as well as reviews presenting results involving biological and biotechnological development of natural products, including phytochemical and biochemical methods for obtention and isolation of natural product molecules.

We are particularly interested in articles describing pharmacological mechanisms (in vivo and in vitro), biosynthetic routes, biochemical characterization, methods for isolation and identification, and quality control of active principles derived from natural products. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activities
  • Anticancer activity
  • Cardiovascular, renal, and gastric activities
  • Antiviral and antibacterial active mechanisms
  • Genomic, metabolomic, and proteomic mechanisms of active natural
  • Plant tissue Culture
  • Characterization and pharmacological activity of venoms
  • Toxicology of natural products

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jbb/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
