GR and SOD activities in flx1Δ strain. Cellular lysates were prepared from WT and flx1Δ mutant strains grown in glycerol ((a), (b), and (c)) up to either the exponential (5 h) or the stationary phase (24 h) or in glucose ((a′), (b′), and (c′)) up to the exponential phase (5 h). GR ((a), (a′)) and SOD ((b), (b′)) specific activities were spectrophotometrically determined as described in Section 2. As control FUM specific activity ((c), (c′)) was measured as described in Section 2. The values reported in the histograms are the means (±SD) of three experiments performed with different cellular lysate preparations. Statistical evaluation was carried out according to Student’s -test ().
