Progress of Polymer Materials in Mining and Petroleum Engineering

Description

Polymer materials are widely used in mining and petroleum engineering, which play an important role in mine and oilfield production. Due to the variety of polymeric materials available, many parameters, such as molecular structure and molecular weight, have substantial effects on their properties. The design and selection of suitable polymers based on the intended specific applications can be challenging. The research into polymeric materials has attracted considerable interest from scientists and engineers in the fields of mining and petroleum. Studies focusing on polymer materials have a wide range of interest and applications in the mining and petroleum industries.

This special issue aims to present recent research progress, developments, and applications of polymer materials and technology within mining and petroleum engineering, including theoretical studies, computational simulations, experimental investigations, and research into polymeric applications. Other high-quality submissions related to materials containing polymers in mining and petroleum engineering are also encouraged, including review articles on current trends and the current state of research into polymeric materials in mining and petroleum engineering.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design of polymer structures for use in mining or petroleum engineering
  • The synthesis of relevant polymers already used in mining and petroleum
  • Theoretical calculation and models of improvements to polymers currently used in the field of petroleum engineering
  • The properties of polymer solutions for oilfield production
  • Flowing properties of polymer solutions in porous media for application in mining
  • Properties of composite materials for petrochemical engineering containing polymers
  • Computational simulations of polymers in mining and petrochemical engineering applications
  • Applications of polymer materials to mining
