Modification, Properties, and Application of Epoxy Adhesives
Description
Epoxy adhesives enable joining of materials of dissimilar chemical and mechanical properties, meaning that they have a broad range of applications and uses. Additionally, adhesive technology offers numerous advantages over other joining technologies, such as the elimination of the corrosion associated with galvanising different types of metal, and increased resistance to impact and fatigue which in turn increases the lifespan of the product. Epoxy adhesives have properties superior to those of most other adhesive materials, due to their excellent adhesion and chemical resistance. Wide varieties of resins and curing agents, together with their excellent capability to be modified (both chemical and physical), allow epoxy adhesives to be adjusted for particular materials and conditions of use. This modification of epoxy adhesives allows for control over specific properties, such as shear and tensile strengths, tensile modulus, flexibility, and heat resistance.
This special issue presents types of epoxy adhesives, epoxy resins, curing agents, and other various types of additives and fillers for epoxy compositions, as well as their properties and the resistance of epoxy adhesives in different applications and environments. Epoxy adhesives are considered in terms of their characteristics, methods of modification, curing, testing, and their applications. The aim of this special issue is dissemination of high-quality research carried out in these topics and their applications in various branches of industry. Both original research papers and review articles are welcome.
