This figure illustrates the setup used. The probe brane is placed at a finite position () on the holographic direction as in (b). On the probe brane, the placement of the Wilson loop is shown in (a); the arrows indicate the contour of the loop (not the propagation of the string). For adiabatic interactions, one can neglect the effects of the dotted lines and the string profile becomes static.
