The surface stretching through the wormhole is given by the union of the two red surfaces . In the left panel we represent the unperturbed geometry, in which the two horizons coincide. In the right panel we represent the geometry in the presence of a shock wave added at some time in the past. In this case the size of the wormhole is effectively larger, and the two horizons no longer coincide.
