Advances in Seismic Performance Assessment and Improvement of Structures
Description
Journal of Advances in Civil Engineering (ACE) provides a forum for presentation and discussion of the latest findings and developments in all areas of civil engineering. Earthquake engineering is a subdiscipline of civil engineering that focuses on the design, construction, repair, and retrofit of buildings with the aim of earthquake hazard mitigation and seismic performance enhancement of buildings under earthquake loads. Reliable assessment and effective improvement of seismic performance of structures are two major challenges in earthquake engineering research which need to be addressed properly through detailed investigations and innovative approaches.
This special issue aims at publication of high-quality and peer-reviewed papers reporting experimental, theoretical, and numerical studies on innovative seismic performance assessment and enhancement methods/techniques/strategies. Both original research and review papers are welcome for possible publication in this issue.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Lateral force-resisting and energy-dissipating systems
- Applications of advanced engineering materials
- Repair and retrofit of structures
- Structural health monitoring and damage detection techniques
- Performance-based earthquake engineering
